Site overview
Wieża szybowa R-VII is the headframe of shaft R-VII, an intake ventilation shaft of Zakłady Górnicze Rudna, an operating division of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. The shaft is located in the Rudna Północna district, in the north-eastern sector of the mine's working area. As an intake shaft, R-VII draws fresh air into the underground ventilation circuit serving the northern extraction workings. The shaft's active role was confirmed in an October 2019 mining authority report on a fire incident in workings approximately 870 metres north of R-VII at a depth of 1,100 metres, in which fresh air was supplied from R-VII and rescue teams used the shaft.
Together with shaft R-XI, R-VII constitutes the shaft infrastructure of the Rudna Północna district. The designation of the site as wieża szybowa — headframe — indicates the tower as the principal visible surface feature.

History
Shaft R-VII, designated in the consulted sources by its headframe as Wieża szybowa R-VII, is an intake ventilation shaft (szyb wdechowy) located in the Rudna Północna extraction district of Zakłady Górnicze Rudna. Its coordinates, north-east of the Rudna Główna and Rudna Zachodnia shaft clusters, are consistent with its assignment to the northernmost of the three operational districts.
Zakłady Górnicze Rudna was established as a mine under construction in September 1969. The mine's initial shaft sinking concentrated in the Rudna Główna area from 1971 to 1972, with preparatory works in Rudna Zachodnia running concurrently. The mine opened officially on 17 July 1974 and production expanded rapidly. As extraction moved progressively northward and deeper over subsequent years, the Rudna Północna district and its shaft infrastructure were developed to serve the advancing workings.
A geocaching record drawing on mine documentation classifies R-VII as a wdechowy shaft and assigns it to the Rudna Północna district alongside shaft R-XI. An exhaust shaft for the northern district, R-XI, was built between 1999 and 2005 using ground-freezing technology. R-VII as the intake counterpart draws fresh air into the underground ventilation circuit serving those workings.
A Wyższy Urząd Górniczy report dated 26 October 2019 describes a fire incident in a roadway designated chodnik W-250a near upadowa N-3b at a depth of 1,100 metres, approximately 870 metres north of shaft R-VII within the Rudna Północna area. The report confirms that fresh air to the affected underground workings was supplied from R-VII, that personnel used the shaft's personnel transport after the incident was identified, and that rescue teams from ZG Rudna and other KGHM operations responded. The mine authority subsequently issued a stop order for extraction in the affected roadway. This incident confirms that shaft R-VII and its headframe were fully operational at that date.
The designation of the entry as Wieża szybowa R-VII — shaft headframe R-VII — identifies the surface tower structure as the feature of interest at this location.
