About the HAAbase Mines heritage register
HAABase Mines is a research-led heritage register of surviving mine headframes, winding towers and related shaft structures across Europe.
The project focuses on recording what remains today, bringing together location data, mapping, photography, and technical description to document surviving structures, their form and function, and their relationship to the wider mining site.
Although many of these structures have been demolished, adapted, or lost, those that survive represent an important and often overlooked part of Europe’s industrial heritage. Content is added and refined over time as new evidence is identified and verified.
